Freedom of Information

On this page (and via the menu on the left hand side) you will find the most direct way to obtain general information using our Freedom of Information Publication Scheme and guidance on how to make an FOI request.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 was passed on 30th November 2000.  It gives the general public the right to access all types of recorded information held by public authorities (including NHS organisations).

The right to access the information held by public authorities can be exercised by anyone, worldwide. The Act is retrospective and the full right to access information came into effect on 1st January 2005.

We will not disclose any personally identifiable information unless the Data Protection Act 1998 allows us to do so.

The Freedom of Information Act also sets out exemptions to disclosure, meaning that in some cases the information requested may not be provided.

Therefore, subject to the exemptions, any person who makes a request to a public authority for a piece of information must be informed whether the public authority holds that information. If it does, that information must be supplied, subject to certain conditions.  To view the full FOI Act 2000 click here.

Below you will find our Publication Scheme, which is a guide to the information routinely published by NHS Mid Essex. The information is divided into different “classes” and the scheme’s objective is to make it easier for the public to find out information about the Trust. The scheme gives details about the following:

1. Introduction to the Publication Scheme

2. Classes of Information:

2.1 Who we are and what we do

2.2 What we spend and how we spend it

2.3 What our priorities are and how we are doing

2.4 How we make decisions

2.5 Our policies and procedures

2.6 Lists and registers

2.7 The services we offer
